南极探险旅游不同的月份都能看到什么？

    进入11月，心变得痒痒起来，南极季开始了。可是，由于疫情，继2020-2021季之后，南极探险旅游的工作再次被迫取消。人不能去，心却飞向了那片白雪皑皑的净土。
    在最近的几场讲座中，不断被问到南极旅游应该几月份去的问题，把我曾经发表在加拿大摄影艺术协会（CAPA）月刊上的一篇英文文章翻译过来，应该可以详细地回答大家的问题了。

November in Antarctica: Right at the start of the season, with courting penguins, pristine landscapes, and rose-colored sunsets, November is an excellent month for Antarctic expedition. Icebergs are hugest in November, sculptural and surreal. It is a good time to observe the penguins mating. By the end of November, you'll see lots of nests full of eggs. Minke, southern right whales and humpbacks return to Antarctic waters to feed. Albatross, marine fulmars, and petrels fly the Drake Passage while Blue-eyed shags return to Antarctica. Spring flowers are blooming in The Falklands. Weddell and Fur seals are busy mating, while in South Georgia rowdy beach master Elephant seals are fighting.

December in Antarctica: December is a popular month for Antarctic travel as the warmer temperature and increasingly longer daytime. You can expect between 20 – 24 hours of daylight, depending on how far south you venture. Wildlife numbers are increasing, and hungry humpback whales start arriving. Look out for the first penguin chicks which start to hatch. Seal pups are common on the beaches of South Georgia.

January in Antarctica: Visiting Antarctica in January is a pretty good idea especially if you’re particularly interested in the history of Antarctica, also intending to see penguin chicks and seal pups in relatively warm temperature. Penguin chicks are at their fluffiest and making strong demands on their busy parents for food. Humpback whales are very focused on gorging on krill after their long commute from the tropics. The opening up of the ice allows the season’s first Polar Circle voyages to reach 66 degrees south.

February in Antarctica: February is also one of the warmest months in Antarctica with every chance of spotting whales and offering the window of opportunity to cross the Antarctic Circle, because now the ice has receded to its maximum extent. The penguin chicks becoming more independent and venturing into the sea. Penguins begin to moult as they begin to prepare for the long winter ahead while sometimes aggressive fur seals are more abundant and line the beaches.

March in Antarctica: Late summer in Antarctica, March, the final month of the Antarctic season, is the best time to spot whales. The juvenile penguins are busy learning to swim, but, riskily, caught by the seals. It's a popular month for photographers, with the sun lower in the sky and wonderful sunsets/rises.
